Director's Notes

Please don't miss CAST's senior company production of Pippin. Pippin is a full-length, modern musical with orchestra and features twenty of Oxford County's most talented young singers and dancers. Pippin premiered on Broadway in October 1972, and ran for five years. It was originally conceived by Stephen Schwartz, who has gone on to pen the musicals Godspell and Wicked. It was directed by the legendary Bob Fosse, whose choreography was groundbreaking, and starred a young Ben Vereen.

Pippin is the story of a young man's journey of discovery and features a pop influenced score including soaring ballads and infectious dance numbers. We have chosen to update our version of Pippin by setting it in the "not so distant future", and by layering it with tech that tips our hat at Fosse's brilliance while making it relevant to our young performers.

With musical direction by Chuck Baxter and choreography by Juliana Sherk, Pippin promises to be a spectacular night of musical theatre.
