ANNUAL CAST AND TW BBQ (Note date change!!)Sunday, September 9th, 2 pm -? Due to circumstances, as they say, beyond our control, we were unable to have our picnic Aug. 19th. Sincerest apologies to anyone who was unaware of the cancellation that was announced at the Annual General Meeting. Please join us for mingling, swimming, eating and entertainment at the home of Sid and Marnie Tatham on Hwy. 2 west of Woodstock. Admission is $2 per person. Let's all hope for a warm and sunny afternoon. The Odd Couple, TW's season opener on Oct. 12th, has been cast and rehearsals begin the last week of August. The show is directed by Don Hastie and produced by your editor. The cast is: Mark Tonner (Oscar), Greg MacCuish (Felix), Steve Young, David Butcher, Ian Culley, and Dan Longtin (the poker players) and Lesley Quesnelle and Elizabeth Williams (the Pigeon sisters, Gwen and Cecily). If you're wise, you'll get your tickets early. CONGRATULATIONSCongratulations to the cast and crew of Just Another Day, our amazing black light show that just finished its run at the London Fringe Festival. Written and directed by Joanna Sweete, this production was a first for CAST. Well done, everyone. It Runs In The Family, a British farce by Ray Cooney, just finished its sold-out run at the Huron Country Playhouse. The role of Mother was played by our own Edythe Smith in her first professional stage role. Edie, TW's long serving treasurer, was last seen on our stage in Marvin's Room. Edie wants to thanks all those who came to see her show and were so supportive. It was much appreciated. Also congratulations to Tony Harding and Jason Paquette who have been cast in London's Old Factory Theatre production of The Weir by the contemporary Irish dramatist, Conor McPherson. The author has given special permission for this production directed by Don Fleckser. The action takes place in a rural Irish pub. Four local guys tell ghost stories to each other, one upping the other, and trying at the same time to impress a Dublin woman who has just arrived in the community. Performance dates: Oct. 18, 19, 20, and 25, 26, 27. The theatre is located at 140 Ann St. (near Richmond and Piccadilly). Break a leg, guys! AUDITION NOTICEEthan Claymore by Norm Foster Further to Ethan ClaymoreThis year Ethan Claymore's Christmas will be doubly heart-warming with one production by Thistle Theatre in Embro (opening Oct. 26) and one by your own TW in Woodstock. The Thistle Theatre production includes your editor as the incorrigibly helpful neighbour, Sue Garner (last seen here in You Can't Take It With You) as the new schoolteacher in town, and is directed by Joan Veldman (seen last season in Moon Over Buffalo) in her directorial debut. Woodstock's production, directed by Bonnie Hartley, opens early December. The obvious overlap/duplication in programming was not intentional on anyone's part. Our president, Sue Sparks, would like to encourage our membership to support our friends at Thistle Theatre. They do some very fine work there as evidenced by their multiple award-winning The Music Man last season and 1949 the year before.
