Theatre Woodstock's production of The Diary of Anne Frank has earned nine awards at the Western Ontario Drama League Festival held in Sarnia last week. The show directed by Jennifer Paquette and produced by Natalie Surridge was recognized highly by Festival Adjudicator Virginia Reh.

  • Kait Gray won the Elsie Thompson Memorial Award for Outstanding Performance by a Juvenile for her portrayal of Anne Frank
  • Vanessa Quesnelle won the Calder Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role
  • Tony Harding won the Players Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
  • Natalie Surridge and her production team won the award for Best Coordinated Production
  • The production won the Harold P. Sellers Memorial Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement
  • John R. Smith won the Terry Doyle Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Major Role for his portrayal of Otto Frank
  • The lighting team of Patrick Monchamp, Peter Pownnall and Teague Patchett won Outstanding Lighting Design and Execution
  • Jennifer Paquette won a Special Adjudicator Award for Sound Design
  • Boobits Alexander (the cat) won a Special Adjudicator Award for Best Behaved Actor in a Non-speaking Role for its portrayal as Mouschi the cat. (Boobits also walked away with this honour in Pre-Festival Awards, as well)

In addition to the award, Theatre Woodstock also earned a number of nominations

  • Outstanding Performance by a Juvenile - Vanessa Quesnelle
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role - Lesley Quesnelle
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role - Peter Pownall
  • Best Visually Coordinated Production - won by Burlington Little Theatre
  • Outstanding Direction - Jennifer Paquette (Award was won by Liz Inman from Burlington Little Theatre)
  • The Diary of Anne Frank was also nominated for Best Production in Festival.

All told, an excellent and well-deserved showing at WODL Festival. Congratulations!
